Fall Classic Golf Tournament
Held: First week in September
Event Description: Western Canada’s largest golf tournament, presented by Preston Mobility, the GVHBA Fall Classic Golf Tournament sells out each year with 288 golfers and 370 banquet guests. The tournament is held at Swan-e-Set Bay Resort and Country Club, featuring a silent auction in support of the four annual GVHBA Centra Cares BCIT scholarships.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Range from Hole Sponsor at $600 to Banquet Sponsor at $10,000.
Breakfast Networking Events
Held: 3 times per year, in a central location
Event Description: Including the always booked-out speed networking, as well as an opportunity for members to have tabletop displays, members and non-members have an opportunity to learn about GVHBA and network. The event usually brings in more than 120 members and non-members.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorship packages range from $500 – $1,000; tabletops around $200.
New Member Orientations
Held: Eight events held at a member location
Event Description: Guided by seasoned association veterans, attendees break out into 6-8 smaller groups to encourage questions, discussion and networking. Orientations book out each month (50 attendees max.), so reserve your seat well in advance.
Sponsorship Opportunity: Share your showroom, and cater breakfast.
Held: August, central location
Event Description: The format always includes speed networking (members only) and attracts many builders and renovator members. This event usually brings in more than 200 attendees, members and non-members. The annual Ping Pong Tournament is a highlight of this event!
Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorship packages begin at $500; tabletops around $300.
A number of events are hosted by the U-40 committee including Go-Karting, Whisky Tasting, “Minute to Win It” Pub Night, and Dodgeball on Trampolines. Always pushing the limits, the U40s set out to involve, engage and inform. Coats For Kids Wrap-Up Christmas Party
Held: First Friday in December
Event Description: Held at Caesarstone Canada with support from Dick’s Lumber, the annual Christmas Party celebrates the cumulative success of GVHBA members collecting Coats for Kids Campaign for the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. It is a fabulous way to kick off the holiday season! These types of events usually bring in more than 100 members.

Held: 2nd Wednesday in May
Event Description: Held at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver Theatre in Coquitlam, the GVHBA’s supplier trade show always draws an overwhelmingly positive response. More than 700 builders, site supers, project managers, subcontractors and renovators (including members and non-members) from large and small construction firms attend.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorship packages begin at $750. Table top displays begin around $600 and all exhibitors must have a minimum $100 door prize.
Home Renovation Shows
Held: Spring Show – VanDusen Gardens; Fall Show: The Vancouver Fall Home Show (booth in show)
Event Description: Free to consumers, the Spring Home Reno Show offers a wealth of information with complimentary one-on-one consultations at the Ask-A-Pro Expo, plus free industry expert 30-minute seminars throughout the day. The spring show typically attracts 300 homeowners. The GVHBA booth at the Vancouver Home + Design Show in October sees over 39,000 consumers, focused on custom home building, renovation and design.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Event sponsorships vary, starting at $500 per show
Held: annually, February, Vancouver SFU Campus
Event Description: This free forum available at SFU Downtown Campus and online helps consumers do their homework before taking that important first step into homeownership. Featuring a series of interactive panel discussions on the home buying process (BC Housing, CMHC etc), the Homebuyer Forum typically draws 200-300 consumers. GVHBA members can offer information regarding products and services at the marketplace.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Corporate sponsorships range from are $1,400 to $10,000 and table top displays are $600 + GST.
Ovation Awards – Finalists Reception
Event Description: The GVHBA local awards programme for members showcases the best in new-home building, renovation and design. The finalists are announced at this member-exclusive event.

Event Description: The GVHBA local awards programme for members to showcase the best in new home building, renovation and design. The winners are announced at this member-exclusive event.

Parade of Renovated and Custom Homes
Held: A Sunday in early June
Event Description: Participating builders on the Parade of Renovated and Custom Homes open the doors of their clients’ projects for the public to tour during this one-day event. The event showcases leading-edge design, advanced construction techniques, and innovative building products by GVHBA members. Consumers purchase passports ($10 pp) to gain entrance to the participating homes. Partial proceeds from passport sales go to apprenticeship carpentry programs at Guildford Park and Frank Hurt Secondary Schools.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Advertisements in the passports start at $150 and approximately 500 passports are printed. Event Sponsor opportunities $1,000 – $5,000
GVHBA Building Better Buildings Forum
Held: May, and November of each year, full-day event.
Event Description: The GVHBA Education & Training Committee is dedicated to advancing the professionalism of the residential construction industry. Each May a full day building science seminar is held for the industry at large.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Event Sponsorships are negotiated, usually ranging from $800 to $5,000.
Industry Workshops – “Business in the Boardroom”
Held: Typically 10 workshops presented throughout the year.
Event Description: GVHBA provides industry workshops covering curriculum matching BC Housing’s seven core competencies to maintain builder licensing requirements (CPDs). Class attendance is limited to 20, to keep the format interactive and attendees engaged, and are taught by GVHBA industry experts.
Content is typically video-recorded and repurposed for use on GVHBA’s eLearn online education portal.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorships can be negotiated based on the course but usually range from $500 to $5,000.
Builders’ Breakfast Series
Held: last Thursday of the month, except July and December
Event Description: Responding to the constant change in building code requirements, the GVHBA provides our members with timely, relevant, technical information, in a consistent, accessible, education and networking format. Sessions run 7:30am – 9am, including hot breakfast. Sessions typically draw 50-75 attendees, attracting multi- and single-family builders, plus renovators.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Technical Sponsor (1 sponsor per session $1,000) Education Sponsor $5,000 per year.
Legends Dinner Panel
Held: Early February
Event Description: A plated dinner event, featuring industry legends and a moderator, where attendees are treated to an inside look at these successful legends and how they see the industry trending. A popular presentation, this evening typically sells out well in advance.

Breakfast and Dinner Meetings
Held: First Wednesday of the month, 3 meetings (April AGM, October AEM, November)
Event Description: The GVHBA hosts three dinner meeting for members and their guests. These networking and information events feature meet-and-mix opportunities, an excellent buffet dinner/lunch, and a presentation on current industry issues by a prominent expert. On average, 150 people attend these events, making for excellent networking.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorship of the meeting ranges from $800 to $3,500 based on the speaker at the event. Tabletop displays are also available for $50 per rental and can be booked in advance.
Available: Year round, for a minimum of two years
Description: Available to members, an affinity partnership is a product or service offering endorsed by GVHBA and provided by one GVHBA member to another that provides an economic or brand benefit to both members and the association. GVHBA members will have access to exclusive savings on GVHBA endorsed programs. Product and service endorsement serves both the member and the Association well. For the member, GVHBA endorsement identifies a quality product or service that is either unique in the marketplace or cannot be found at lower prices. Affinity programs range from $5,000 and up.
