The 2017 Parade of Renovated and Custom Homes

Presented by the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association (GVHBA), the 24th annual Parade of Renovated and Custom Homes will showcase an exclusive collection of professionally renovated and custom built homes in Metro Vancouver on Sunday, June 11, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A unique opportunity to view the latest custom home design trends, home renovations, plus the science behind building, this annual one day event offers consumers both inspiration and education with glimpses into award-winning projects.

Admission is by passport at a cost of $10 per person. Children 17 and under are free. Passports can be purchased at any home, and then used for entry to the remaining homes. A portion of the proceeds from passport sales will help fund the purchase of tools, building materials and safety gear for a carpentry training program offered by Guildford Park and Frank Hurt secondary schools in Surrey.

Viewing time is limited to six hours so make sure to plan your personal parade before heading out.

*PLEASE NOTE: As these are private residences, the only time to view these homes is during the posted Parade day and hours*

Shakespeare Homes and Renovations Inc.,
Parade Home: North Vancouver
Type: Custom Home & Coach House
“Poetry” is a Built Green Platinum, Smart Home and Energy Star certified new custom home located in an enclave of streets, all with poet-inspired nomenclature. The project; a 5,200 sq.ft. single-family home, double garage, 700 sq.ft. of covered outdoor area, and even a beautiful coach house on this large corner lot has been a labour of love for Shakespeare Homes’ founder Cooper.
Insulated concrete forms (ICF), triple-pane windows and a high-efficiency natural gas combined space and water heating system, solar power may not sound romantic, but these energy-efficiency features place the home’s durability and sustainability well above other homes of similar size and quality. Not to mention, the added ambience, comfort and reduced operating costs the home will bring to its current owners.

This modern, west coast home, was given new life and added curb appeal with a complete whole home renovation. The kitchen was entirely transformed, with quartz counter tops and a glass tile back splash, refreshing the heart of the home. A modern glass and metal staircase leads to the second floor where a functional home office includes custom built-ins and a concealed murphy bed. Just down the hall is a private and serene master suite. It contains its own study to read or watch TV as well as a luxurious bedroom and ensuite areas. Last but not least, the basement media room provides a quiet escape from the rest of the home.

TQ Construction,
Parade home: Vancouver
Type: Renovation – Whole Home Exterior (phase 2) + Interior (phase 1)
This segregated family home needed modernization. Owners wished to renew original Vancouver Special house to meet lifestyle needs, retain existing footprint, and avoid significant structural changes or additions. Large expanses of floor space found in common ‘Vancouver Specials’ are hard to resist as functional family homes, but the boxy layout leaves something to be desired and poses challenges to design inspiration. Originally just another stucco and brick-faced house built in the early 70s; the home is re-invented creating an entertainment space that’s all about the “wow-factor”.
“During total renovation of our original Vancouver Special, TQ construction was able to bring the house into modern day and beyond. They listened to all our needs and wants and have made our vision come true!” – Vancouver Homeowner
