Want to Know How to Network Effectively & Maximize Your Results? Presented by the dynamic duo Darian Kovacs from Jelly Marketing and Benji Carlson of Breakthrough Academy, this hands on session will see you connected!

In today’s online world, in-person networking can feel like a lost art. And knowing what channels of communication to use, and what the correct procedures are to make contact, both in person and online, are essential to your business and career.

Not sure how to connect? Do you want to create positive, mutually-beneficial networking relationships, but don’t know where to start? Whether you are a builder looking to reach clients, or a supplier wanting to increase builder connections this course should be on your radar.

To build a solid and fruitful network requires focus and intentionality, and having a plan for this is key. How you choose to spend your time networking (both offline & online) will have a dramatic effect who you connect with, and how strong the connection is. If you feel you have no control over your network of contacts, this session will put you back in the driver’s seat.

In this session, we will:

  • Provide an overview of general do’s and don’ts, how to network properly online and in person
  • Look at the best ways to utilize online resources & social networking to get real results from your networking efforts
  • Give you a tool to profile your ideal network and structure a message that will speak directly to them
  • Discuss how to find the right networking opportunities and set outcomes for your efforts with them
  • Help you build a plan to follow up effectively with new connections you’ve made and turn them into worthwhile relationships
  • Practice what we learn. Located at the Trading Post, this is an interactive, where you will have the chance to test your new skillset.

Tickets are $50.00 + GST for GVHBA Members, and include food, one drink, and a portion of the sales will be donated to Nightshift Street Ministries.

  • Darian Kovacs, ,Principal + Director of Strategy, Jelly Marketing

    Darian brings over 15 years of experience in marketing, communications and public relations. Throughout his career, he has also been a founder and board member of various foundations and charitable organizations. Through his award-winning company, Jelly Marketing, Darian has worked with various local, national and global brands building and executing on their digital & PR strategy. He co-founded the Canadian Internet Marketing Conference and he’s been featured in BC Business magazine, Business in Vancouver and on the Canada Post training circuit. He is a contributor with Small Business BC, Entrepreneur, and both Rogers and Shaw’s Business Resource Centre on topics of Social Media and PR. Being both an educator and practitioner, Darian’s mix of stories, practical examples and takeaways leaves audiences feeling inspired and equipped to implement social media and PR strategies into their organizations

  • Benji Carlson, Assessment Specialist, Breakthrough Academy

    As the son of two proven entrepreneurs, Benji’s spirit for self-starting business runs deep. Since he was a young teen, Benji has been starting and running profitable small businesses; most recently culminating in a highly successful 4-year career as a franchisee with College Pro Painters. Benji’s enormous heart and passion for people is what drove him to produce over $1,000,000 in revenue while taking the highest quality care of his employees and customers. He was consistently acknowledged for having the most productive staff in the company, while leading more junior franchisees to fulfill their potential. Benji’s uncanny ability to find the right people and put them in the right place make him a natural fit for Breakthrough Academy’s Assessment Team.

    Upon finishing up his career with College Pro, Benji set out on the ultimate victory lap: a nine-month transcontinental motorcycle trip from Canada to Peru.

    Originally from Kelowna BC, Benji now lives in Vancouver alongside his friends and colleagues at BTA. During the summer Benji is usually found on two wheels: either bombing down a trail on his mountain bike or cruising the pavement on his motorcycle. When the snow falls, he escapes to the Okanagan where the mountains draw him and his snowboard.
