LEEP Technology Forum – Two-Day Seminar

Event date: October 15, 2018
Showtime: October 15 & 16 | 8am - 4pm both days
Location: Aria Banquet Hall and Convention Centre: 12350 Pattullo Place, Surrey, BC
12 CPD credits (6 CPDs per day)
Stipulations: You can attend both days, or either day 1 or 2

The LEEP (Local Energy Efficiency Partnerships) Technology Forum is designed to provide a time-saving way to learn about new technologies for high-performance homes.  Following close on the heels of the LEEP Innovation Exchange, NRCan’s LEEP Technology Forum provides an opportunity to see nine BC builder-selected competing technical solutions firsthand, and evaluate which ones fit into your building practice.

DAY 1: Energy-efficient wall systems (four will be examined – see agenda tab above for details)

DAY 2: Mechanical systems for use in efficient housing (three types), and roof-applied & integrated photovoltaic systems (see agenda tab above for details)

Presented by NRCan, this event is supported by: Canadian Home Builders’ Association, BC Housing, BC Hydro, FortisBC and GVHBA.

Industry attendees have the option of attending one or both days.  Students with valid ID can attend at a special student rate for one or both days.

REMINDER: Invite your designers, framing and mechanical contractors to register for day(s) of most interest to them.
Who Should Attend

Builders, renovators, designers, framing and mechanical contractors, and industry suppliers interested in building high-performance homes.

Event Agenda

Day 1:   High Performance Wall Systems; Monday, October 15, 2018 – Surrey

High-performance housing requires efficient walls as they have a large impact on both conductive heat transfer and uncontrolled air leakage.

Local builders chose to compare high performance walls that would take them to Net Zero Ready/Net Zero (~R-35-40) program levels.  Builders also requested information on how best to address moisture, cladding attachment, window installation and aesthetics.

All sessions will have time for Q&A

Day 2:  Mechanical & PV Systems; Tuesday, October 16, 2018 Surrey

As homes become more air-tight and efficient, they require compact, properly sized mechanical systems that meet homeowner comfort needs.

Local builders have asked to compare new innovations in gas and electric mechanical systems for high performance homes, and have requested presentations on the selection and installation of PV systems for homes aspiring towards Net-Zero Energy.
